….my 1000th blog hit!

so exciting! I never imagined back on May 31st that I’d ever have that many people stopping by!

But, since you have, I thought I would take the opportunity to let everyone get to know me a little.

I am a 37 year old Mom, married to a wonderful man who works very hard – he has TWO jobs people – just so we can afford for me to stay home and raise our beautiful son, Daniel.

I love cooking, especially baking, so this time of year I am in my element. I humbly feed my family and the occasional pot luck when I was working outside of the home before Daniel came along. Simple dishes suit us, although I like a good challenge every now and again, and thanks to this, my hubby’s tastebuds have reached new horizions.

I worked outside the home in mainly office settings since the age of 18, so staying home was a huge adjustment. I have always been one of those anal “everything in its place people”. It took a mischievous, blue eyed, blond haired little boy to show me that things don’t always have to look perfect to be perfect. The same can be said about food – some of the ugliest dishes I have ever made or been served have been some of the most delicious.

Why Lobster and Fishsticks?

I am sure the name of my blog has raised a few eyebrows, or at least furrowed a few, wondering where such a title came from. My husband and I met online, and if it weren’t for the internet, I am certain we would have never met. We lived on opposite sides of a large metropolitan area, and led very different lives. We were raised on opposite poles – I had a typical “Leave it to Beaver” childhood, with a Mom whose job it was to keep an immaculate home, provide love and hot meals and who was always there when I got in from school. Dad was a manager for the Railroad and worked long hours and provided a good life for us all. Hubby, however, grew up in rural Georgia, poor as a church mouse, where he and his five brothers were left to their own a lot because his Mom had to work to provide what she could in place of his in and out father. So, I was raised much closer to Lobster, where he was definitely fish sticks. Ironically enough, we both experienced our first taste of lobster on out 6-month wedding anniversary while at a church retreat in Orlando.

Why Blog?

My best girlfriend lives 400 miles away, and I am at home alone a lot with Daniel. I wanted to share my passion with others. I felt like this was a way to tie in most of my pleasures – cooking / baking, photography, and writing. Its a win-win for me!

To Sum it all up

Thank you to all those who stop by – I hope you are able to find something you like. If not, come back again because you never know what I’ll cook up next!
